Custom Itinerary & Travel Consultation

Stranded on Staffa

Scotland is often the trip of a lifetime. Many dream of the day they will set foot on Alba’s shore, and such a trip is best not left to chance.

Why not let me, a detail-oriented travel consultant focusing solely on Scotland, share my first-hand experience, deep knowledge, and unshakeable passion with you to ensure your trip to Scotland is one you’ll never forget, one designed for you alone?

I’ve spent a year’s worth of time (and counting) ranging across Scotland as an explorer and hunter of fine experiences — I’ve done the research, found the best places and noted the worst — so you don’t have to worry about spoiling your dream vacation.

I cannot say enough good things about the recommendations from Keith! I am in Scotland for a year so he tailored a plan of suggestions to encompass exactly what I was looking for during my free time. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting him via Skype and his enthusiasm for Scotland is hard to beat. I waited to write until I had the chance to experience my first set of recommendations, which happened to be in the Perthshire area last weekend. Everything from things to do, places to stay, places to drink and everything in between was dead-on to what I was looking to experience. If you are planning a trip for three days or three years you cannot go wrong with a sit-down with “The Traveling Savage!” -Kate Clarke

Every custom itinerary is tailored to your needs and desires, and includes:

  • Specific regions and towns in which to base yourself.
  • Accommodation recommendations in each destination.
  • A detailed, daily itinerary.
  • Transportation recommendations including specific routes and modes of travel.
  • Restaurant suggestions in each destination.
  • Tours, hikes, and excursions that emphasize serendipity and independent exploration.
  • Must-see sites, can’t-miss activities, and essential visits I’ve discovered from twelve years traveling around Scotland.

How It Works and What to Expect

  • You’ll first fill out this questionnaire to provide preliminary details about the trip to Scotland you’d like planned. The more detailed you are the better!
  • After I receive the questionnaire and review it, I’ll contact you so we can set up a short, 15-minute call to talk through your vision for the trip. This helps me get a sense for who you are and what you seek from your visit to Scotland.
  • Following the preliminary call, I’ll draw up an invoice and send it to you.
  • Once I’ve received payment I’ll get to work drafting your detailed day-by-day itinerary.
  • When I’ve finished putting together your custom itinerary, I’ll send you the finalized PDF document containing your tailored itinerary so you’ll have time to review it before our call.
  • We’ll then work together to schedule a time for an hour-long consultation in which we’ll go over the itinerary at a high level and hone in on any lingering questions you might have.
  • From that point onward, I am available to you for any questions you might have regarding your trip to Scotland.

To anyone considering working with Keith – I can’t recommend him enough! If you have any hesitation about paying for the service (as I admittedly did, not knowing what I’d get given that I had stumbled across his site late one night while trying to plan my trip without any luck!) there is NO need to worry! If you tell Keith what you’re looking for in Scotland, and your interests, he will work with you to provide some fantastic suggestions. Without his help we would have wasted more time in planning and would have wasted time on our trip doing things that were not nearly as interesting as what Keith recommended. The money is more than well spent in getting Keith’s expert recommendations. -Laura Horne

Fee

The cost of each custom itinerary varies since it is a unique, bespoke creation that I put together based on the number of travelers, trip duration, destinations, desired excursions, and any special requests that require additional time and research.

Custom itineraries start at $100 per planned day, and there is no minimum or maximum number of days. I will provide you with a proposal quoting my exact fee after our preliminary call.

Keith “heard” exactly what we were asking for and returned us a plan that followed just that. We had plenty of time to have him answer our burning questions and we still have access to him should another question arise. I think his service is well worth the cost and then some. A wonderful pre-trip bit of guidance and something we wish had been available in this form for other countries we have visited. Thanks so much, Keith! –Chuck Nakell
